Stephen Inman
Trial Attorney
A highly qualified trial lawyer with over 25 years of combined experience in government and private practice — from complex civil litigation to federal prosecution.
Stephen is skilled in representing both complex civil and criminal cases. He spent more than eight years in civil litigation with two of the largest firms in North Carolina where he handled numerous business, property, and injury lawsuits, as well as internal investigations.
He then served seventeen years as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Middle District of North Carolina and the Southern District of Georgia. As a federal prosecutor, Stephen tried multiple cases to verdict ranging from white collar cases to violent crimes, concluding his service as Criminal Chief.
In that role, he oversaw the work of more than 20 federal prosecutors, led grand jury each month, and managed hundreds of cases through every aspect of the litigation process from the initial charge through discovery, motions and pleas, to trials and appeals.
In addition to his extensive federal jury trial experience, Stephen has appeared before the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the Eleventh Circuit, briefing dozens of cases and arguing successfully before the judges. He has served as an instructor for the National Advocacy Center, provided law enforcement with legal training, and is a member of the Criminal Rules Committee for the Middle District of North Carolina.
Stephen is an honors graduate of Washington & Lee University, where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, and the Vanderbilt University School of Law, where he served on the Moot Court Board. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in North Carolina. Stephen and his wife, Ginny, have lived in Greensboro for nearly two decades and raised two sons.
